Explanada de España-This emblematic promenade, composed of 6.6 million colorful marble tiles, attracts people of all walks of life who come to simply soak up the cheerful, easy-going atmosphere. No wonder it is one of Alicante's most beloved landmarks!
Castillo de Santa Bárbara - Alicante's commanding medieval castle, the Castillo de Santa Bárbara has spent centuries sprawled upon the rocky Mount Benacantil keeping watch for attacks, pirates, and merchant ships.
MARQ - Forget about dusty pots and boring displays! Meshing the old with the new, Alicante's archaeological museum- MARQ- was voted Europe's best museum in 2004.
Tabarca - Ironically enough, one of Alicante's best features is not even technically in Alicante! Take the short ferry ride to the island of Tabarca, the Valencian community's only inhabited island, and explore the stunning underwater flora and fauna of this natural marine reserve.
El Barrio -The oldest part of the town, simply called “the neighborhood” in Spanish, holds beautiful historic churches and a unique 12th century cathedral. More than the sights, this area is famous for its thumping nightlife. Locals and tourists mix to bar-hop from one great spot to the next in a friendly, open environment.

Alicante & Festivities
Alicante's calendar features a line-up of vastly different and yet equally exciting festivals. Alicante becomes a pyrotechnic wonderland during Las Hogueras, a medieval battleground during the Moors and Christians festival, and an atmospheric stage for scores of arts festivals.
Las Hogueras de San Juan - On June 20, a palm-shaped firework launches into the air to mark the beginning of Las Hogueras de San Juan, a festival that does not simmer down until June 24.
Santa Faz-If you want to join the thousands of Alicantinos for this massive traditional Christian pilgrimage, make sure you rise and shine! The romería (pilgrimage) gets under way each year at 8 o'clock in the morning on the second Thursday following Holy Week.
Moors and Christians -The parades and battle re-enactments of the Moors and Christians take place during various dates starting in March and drawing to a close on December 6.
Reyes Magos (Three Wise Men) - On January 5th, Spaniards in cities throughout Spain celebrate the arrival of these religious monarchs with a colorful parade called the Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos.
Carnaval (Carnival) - February-March- From the city's major monuments right down to the street benches, Alicante and its people transform themselves during the festive Carnival.
Semana Santa (Holy Week) -March-April- Holy Week in Alicante, while not as famous as the one in Sevilla, is a beautiful time to be in the charming port city.
Cruces de Mayo (May Crosses)-May 1-3 -The already picture perfect Santa Cruz neighbourhood of Alicante fills with music, dancing and flowers during the annual Cruces de Mayo celebration.
Mercado Medieval (Medieval Market) - Last week of June- Walking through the annual Medieval Market is like strolling straight back to the Middle Ages during this unique market.

Trips outside Alicante
Tabarca is a beautiful rocky island which makes a perfect day trip from Alicante. The island is officially considered as part of Alicante and lies only 11 miles southeast of the city, making it easily reachable by boat in just under an hour.
Altea makes a perfect excursion from Alicante ,and is so pretty you may want to stay a few days! Home to a small resort, Altea is well facilitated for tourists, but has successfully avoided being hit by heavy urbanisation. The little town has retained its charm as a coastal fishing village, which continues to be an important industry in Altea
Alcoy - A visit to this town could be compared to a solar eclipse: a lot of the time it stays the same, but for that small period every so often something great happens. This quite strange comparison is referring to the Moors and Christians festival that is organised in late April; several cities hold a similar festival over this time period but Alcoy’s is the best of its kind.
Barcelona - Boasting a rich history founded in the 1st century, Barcelona has a lot to offer to its visitors.
Madrid- Home to the Spanish Royal family, Madrid has a surrounding essence of energy. The capital is rich with artistic displays and cultural influences, which means that you will certainly find yourself running out time with so much to do.
Valencia- Signifying strength in Latin, Valencia is the third largest city in Spain, so there is a lot for you to do in this amazing city!
Morella is one of the oldest inhabited towns in Spain and is unique due to its fortress structure that surrounds the quaint town. The walls still standing today are a testament to the test of time.
